Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21, 1983. She is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington located in Ohio left high school, and relocating to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. Her first role came to her, as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001 despite struggling in the financial department. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was the main actor for the first two seasons winning an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. After leaving the show, Grace was keen to work as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. She reprised this role in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated version that the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes, playing Shannon. The year was 2013, and she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars that catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Part of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career as a teenager with small parts in a few of the films of her father and starred alongside her brother in the popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romance comedy Secretary (2002). Both films were critically acclaimed. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Then, she went on to appear in comedy films along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). The other roles she's played include Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) as well as musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut with the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
